一昨日の夕方にフィリピンの西方で発生した台風17号（JELAWAT）が発達するにつれて、ヤップ島の上もまたすっかり雲に覆われてしまった。 昨夕からときおりパラつき始めた雨は、今日は朝からもう「とことん」という感じで降り続いている（上はヤップ時間で本日午後7時32分の衛星写真より）。 風向はほぼ南西。わたしは島の東側にいるので、風が通り抜ける海の上に出ない限りわからないけれど、風力は15ノットくらいに強まっているらしい。とりあえず風の影響を受けていない身のまわりでは、雨で地盤が緩んで傾いたバナナが一本目につく程度だが、ときおりやってくる土砂降りモードになると、道からあふれた泥水がわ...
